Reel Script · Nike Breakdown
Nike doesn’t rent attention. They own it.
A 60-second Instagram reel that takes one of the most over-covered brands in marketing and finds the angle nobody talks about: not the ads, but the owned ecosystem underneath them. Written to be watched twice and saved once.

The Angle
Everybody covers the ads. Almost nobody covers the machine.
Nike is the most dissected brand on social, which makes it the hardest to say anything new about. A breakdown that opens with the swoosh, the slogan or the athlete endorsements is dead on arrival, because the viewer has already seen that reel a dozen times.
So the hook sets the spend aside in the first line and points at something else entirely: “Nike spends billions on ads, but their real weapon is something most brands completely ignore.” It concedes the obvious in order to buy the next fifty seconds.
What follows is the actual mechanism, four owned apps, platform-specific content, twenty-two thousand creators, and one number that reframes all of it. That number is the reason the reel exists.
The Four Beats
Each beat earns the next one.
01 · The ecosystem
Four apps, not one funnel
Run Club, Training Club, SNKRS and the Nike App. While other brands fight the algorithm for reach, each of these collects first-party data and pulls the user further in.
02 · The channels
No one-size-fits-all post
X gets athlete celebration posts, TikTok gets behind-the-scenes access, Instagram gets the campaign visuals. Every platform gets content built specifically for it.
03 · The creators
22,000 of them, mostly not famous
Niche athletes, streetwear personalities, everyday runners. People the audience already trusts, which is worth more than another celebrity face.
04 · The payoff
26% of revenue from owned audience
Just over a quarter of total revenue comes directly from the membership ecosystem. Not from ads. That single figure turns three interesting facts into an argument.
This is the difference between marketing to people and building with them.

Craft Notes
What makes it save-able.
→
The close is four words long and repeats the hook’s promise back as a conclusion: Nike doesn’t rent attention, they own it.
→
Every claim in the body is a specific, checkable number. Vague admiration does not get saved; “26%” does.
→
The caption is not a transcript. It restates the argument for readers who never unmute, then asks for the save before it asks for the follow.
→
The sign-off sets the channel’s promise, not just this video’s: breakdowns that actually break things down.
Want short-form that argues something?
